Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a form of manual therapy used to help athletic performance, prevent and treat sports-related tension and injuries. 

Often, Sports Massage is a combination of therapies such as Deep Tissue, Swedish, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, and stretching.

There is a significant difference in Pre-event Sports Massage and Post-event Sports Massage

Less than 24 hours before athletic events, it is best for athletes to stay focused and not lose their muscle tone. Deep tissue or relaxation massage is not recommended at that time. Ideally, toning techniques (Tissue Flushing) are used to 'wake up' muscle tissue and prepare it for optimal performance.

Over 3 days before athletic events or after events, sports massage therapist can focus on deeper layers, relaxing tissues, and treating any muscle tears and trigger points. Thai massage techniques can be used to stretch chronically tight tissues as well.
